February 2024 E-News

It has been an exciting last few months! We completed our validation study at Arizona State University, attended the National Hearing Conservation Association Annual Conference, where we presented on the development and the validation of our Fluid™ earplug, and we received our Noise Reduction Rating (NRR)! Thank you for joining us in our mission to protect people suffering from loud noise with new and innovative hearing protection products.

Attenuation Update

Human Subject Test Results Show Fluid™ Earplug Provides More Consistent Attenuation than Foam Earplug

We worked with our partners at Arizona State University to collect attenuation measurements on 20 subjects comparing performance of our Fluid™ earplug and a roll-down foam earplug using the FitCheck Solo system. Each line in the figures below represents an individual subject. The Fluid™ earplug attenuation, shown on the left below, had much less inter-subject variability than the foam earplug attenuation. The standard deviation for the Fluid™ earplug personal attenuation rating (PAR) was 4.4 dB, while the standard deviation for the foam earplug was double that at 8.8 dB. In addition to having a lower standard deviation, the Fluid™ earplug had an average PAR approximately 3 dB higher. Consistency is important to ensure everyone fitted gets the right amount of protection.

This work was presented at the 2024 National Hearing Conservation Association Annual Conference earlier this month.

The Noise Reduction Rating is IN!

The official NRR of our Fluid™ earplug is 24 dB. This testing was completed at Michael & Associates.

Paxauris at NHCA 2024

NHCA, February 8-10 (Albuquerque, NM)

Many of those who stopped by our booth at the 2024 National Hearing Conservation Association Annual Conference tried our Fluid™ earplugs and gave a largely enthusiastic response.

Tony and Tristan also presented on the design and development of our Fluid™ earplug as well as the performance validation through human subject testing.

Thank you to everyone that attended our presentations or stopped by our booth, and a huge thank you to the organizers for putting on another great conference!
